Additional Info: A rising concert pianist and chamber musician, Rudin Lengo has been heard in recitals and competitions in Canada and the United States. Studying with the highly esteemed pianist and pedagogue Daniel Epstein, he recently completed a Master’s Degree at the Manhattan School of Music on a President’s Award. During this past year, Mr. Lengo collaborated with violinist Mialtin Zhezha, student of Pinchas Zukerman. They were coached by Patinka Kopec and Lawrence Dutton, violist of the Emerson String Quartet, and were finalists in the 2010 Artur Balsam Duo Competition. Other recent collaborations include a two piano ensemble with Ukranian-born pianist Illya Filshtinskiy, student of Arkady Aronov. Coached by Marc Silverman and Jon Klibonoff, they have performed in recital at Greenfield Hall as well as at the MSM Winter Chamber Festival.

Mr. Lengo has been the recipient of over 50 awards and scholarships for his musical and academic achievements, including the F. K. Ashbaugh President’s Entrance Scholarship (Univeristy of Western Ontario), 2004 Miller Thomson National Scholarship, Queen Elizabeth II Aiming for the Top Scholarship, Silver Jubilee Award of Excellence and the Chawkers Foundation Scholarship.

In 2008, Mr. Lengo completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance at the University of Western Ontario on full scholarship. An active participant in festivals and competitions throughout Ontario and Canada, his achievements include 1st Prizes at the Rotary Music Festival in Burlington, UWO London Music Scholarship Foundation, and the London Kiwanis Festival as well as Runner-Up at the OMFA Provincial Competition and 3rd Place at the Finals of the Canadian Music Competition. In the past two years, Mr. Lengo has performed in several Master-classes for world-renowned pianists such as John Perry, Menahem Pressler, André Laplante, Jacques Rouvier and Anton Kuerti. He has also participated at summer programs and festivals including the Centre d’Arts Orford and the Toronto Summer Music Academy and Festival.

Rudin Lengo began his piano studies at the age of seven at “Servete Maçi” School of Music in Tiranë, Albania, with Nedi Peku as his principal teacher. During his years in Albania, he participated in several competitions, being awarded the Honorary Prize at the EPTA Bach National Festival, and 2nd Prize at the Albanian National Competition (Intermediate Division). Graduating at the top of his class, Mr. Lengo showed great promise in his musical talent as well as his academic development.

After immigrating to Canada, Mr. Lengo continued his studies under the guidance of James Anagnoson and Leslie Kinton. Alongside the courses at the Royal Conservatory of Music that led him to an ARCT Performer’s Diploma, Mr. Lengo earned a graduating average of 99% at George Harvey Collegiate Institute, the 2nd highest in the Greater Toronto Area. In 2004, he received the prestigious Governor General’s Academic Medal and the University of Toronto National Book Award for his academic accomplishments.
