Jonathan runs a successful Piano studio in the Cotswolds, where his clients learn on his own Steinway concert grand piano, and he has a busy studio in Mayfair, London. The Mayfair studio is aimed at giving professional adults (who perhaps learned when they were younger and would like to rekindle their enthusiasm) the opportunity to work with a professional concert pianist, in a relaxed environment within a reasonable distance of their places of work in central London. The only criteria rquired is the desire to learn how to play well. Jonathan is happy to teach anyone from beginners, to those who need help with tackling the complexities of the Rachmaninov 3rd concerto (which he is recording in 2006/7).For many, this will be an opportunity to engage with music, as a way of putting some some balance into a hectic schedule.

Jonathan's teaching career started at the very top of the music profession when was invited to join the Piano Teaching staff at Chethams School in Manchester after he Graduated from the RNCM in 1982. He had been assisting in the music department there as an undergraduate, and went on to become a full time member of staff, and also an assistant House Master. His association with Chethams lasted from 1980 until 1985.His duties included some A Level teaching, as well as being a staff accompanist and teacher.

Jonathan is a very experienced teacher as well as performer, and in addition to becoming Head of Keyboard at St Paul's Cathederal Choir School, he also taught at St Paul's Girls school in Hammersmith, as well as at Benenden, Tonbridge School, and Latymer Upper School. Many of his pupils were prepared for and succesfully obtained music scholarships to the best public schools.

He has succesfully prepared students for University and College entrance for Music Degree courses (as well as Oxbridge PPE and PPH candidates, having obtained a B.A from London University 2:1 in Philosophy) Jonathan is a Full member of the ISM.(Incorporated Society of Musicians) He is also a full member of EPTA. (European Piano Teachers Association).
